About TICE

The TICE is the bus network of the canton of Esch-sur-Alzette, organized and operated directly by the intermunicipal union of the same name.

The Syndicate for Intercommunal Transport of Persons in the Canton of Esch-sur-Alzette includes nine municipalities in the mining basin, most of which are located in the canton of Esch-sur-Alzette: Dudelange, Differdange, Esch-sur-Alzette, Käerjeng (including Bascharage, initially a member by merger), Kayl, Pétange, Rumelange, Sanem, and Schifflange.

The TICE depot is located in Esch-sur-Alzette. It was rebuilt in 2006 in place of the historical Minettstram depot.

History

1914
Creation of the Syndicate of Intercommunal Tramways of the Canton of Esch-sur-Alzette.
1927
The Minettstram tram network finally comes to life. Its commissioning was delayed due to the First World War.
1948
Start of operation of a bus network by the TICE.
1956
Bus lines definitively supplant the tramway.
1995
Network restructuring.
2008
1995 A new name for the syndicat, abandoning the expression ‘intercommunal tramway’ dating from its creation, and becoming the Syndicat pour le transport intercommunal de personnes dans le canton d'Esch-sur-Alzette (Syndicate for intercommunal passenger transport in the canton of Esch-sur-Alzette).
